Honoring the Legacy of Marguerite Poindexter LaMotte |
Celebrating a lifelong educator, advocate, and leader by investing in the futures of students at Marguerite Poindexter LaMotte Elementary School.
Marguerite Poindexter LaMotte devoted her life to public education. As a beloved principal and later as a member of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Board of Education, she championed students, families, and teachers with fierce love and unwavering dedication. She believed every child could succeed when given care, high expectations, and opportunity — and she often referred to her students as “her babies.” Her leadership helped build strong academic programs and a renowned music program, while always centering the needs of children and the community.Today, her legacy continues through the students, educators, and families whose lives she touched, and through the K–5 school that proudly bears her name: Marguerite Poindexter LaMotte Elementary School.
